Shawn Stasiak (aka Meat) Clarifies Rumors Surrounding His WWE Release

Former WWE Superstar Shawn Stasiak (aka Meat) recently opened up about the rumors about his release from the company.

Meat has wrestled in both WCW and WWE. He was released by WWE in 2000. There were several rumors surrounding the termination of his contract. One of the reported reasons was that he recorded an argument between Davey Boy Smith and Steve Blackman without their consent.

Stasiak was interviewed by Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling. The former WWE Superstar opened up about why he was released from the promotion. He admitted to recording the audio but claimed it was just to show his colleagues how they sound during arguments.

“There’s so many stories and fabrications. I’m like, ‘Oh my god,’ it’s amazing how a story, like a little piece like this, and it just gets blown completely out of proportion. I’ve heard I was paranoid. I’m recording people’s conversations in locker rooms… It hurts to hear it because my intention, and people that know me and know the situation, there was absolutely no wrongful intent or harm whatsoever. Honest to God.

“The bottom line is it was just a dumb thing to do. It was stupid. It was just a rib that I played on a couple of guys in the car,” Stasiak said. “They’re just arguing and bickering… I was just going to play it back for them and say, ‘This is how you guys sound, like a couple of b***.’ You know?”

The former Meat also admitted that he was wrong for even recording it because he was not well-known by his colleagues.
