Salina de la Renta describes how her return to MLW came out.
At MLW Fury Road, Salina de la Renta made her return to the promotion for the first time since she was “sacrificed” on-screen in May 2021. Salina departed the promotion and went back to school, but she made her surprise return at Fury Road.
Speaking on The Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Dennis Farrell and Lars Frederiksen, Salina De La Renta was asked to describe how her return happened.
“I left the company, but we didn’t have any bad blood,” Salina de la Renta said. “So it wasn’t like the door was closed. It was just, I needed time to focus on my career. I called MLW and I let them know, ‘Hey, I’m missing my home. Can I come back?’ It was as simple as that. One, two, three, got back in.”
At the end of the interview, Salina noted that she will be at “every single MLW show for the next year.”
Salina De La Renta Hopes To Inspire Other Puerto Ricans
Salina de la Renta also made it clear that she hopes that her story will inspire other Puerto Ricans.
“I really do hope that my story is an inspiration to other Puerto Rican women and guys as well. Having lived in Puerto Rico for 17 years, I know that it’s very easy for people to think that, ‘Oh, nobody becomes famous. That’s just celebrities.’
“But the rest of the people, we’re just little. That is very much the collective mentality, and it’s very easy for Puerto Ricans to bash other people’s dreams. I would know, I grew up there. It’s very common. It’s not just me criticizing my island. That is exactly what I lived.”
Salina then noted that she believes that it’s possible to manifest anything in life, regardless of your economic status.
“You tell somebody that you want to be on TV and they’re like, ‘Yeah, sure, whatever.’ But I never thought of it like, it’s not gonna happen for me,” she said. “I always stood by what I wanted. I believe that no matter what your situation is, you can be homeless or you can be super rich, if you want to manifest something, you can do it.
“It doesn’t matter. Yes, money makes things easier. But I believe that hard work pays off. If you really commit to it, you’re gonna make it. Nobody can say otherwise.”
