Finn Balor speaks highly of Dominik Mysterio.
Dominik joined The Judgment Day in September 2022. The group, which also features Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley, has been prominently featured on WWE programming. In recent months, they have won several titles. Ripley holds the WWE Women’s World Championship, and Dominik is the NXT North American Champion. Priest won the Money in the Bank match. He and Balor also captured the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at WWE Payback.
Speaking with Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, Balor was asked to name which member of Judgment Day has blown his mind. He first praised both Priest and Ripley.
“All three, I thought they were good,” Finn Balor said. “I didn’t know they were that good. Damian, knew he had it in him. Maybe he didn’t realize it himself or he needed that extra kick in the ass to kind of get going.
“I feel like in the last couple months, especially since winning Money in the Bank and becoming Senor Money in the Bank, he’s really stepped it up a gear. Rhea, I think everyone knew was a superstar from the day she walked in the door. It was just a matter of time.”
Finn Balor Calls Dominik Mysterio The Biggest Surprise Of Judgment Day
Finn Balor continued by describing how Dominik Mysterio has been the biggest surprise of The Judgment Day. He highlighted Dominik’s growth throughout his time with the group and called him the future of the business.
“For me, the biggest surprise was Dominik,” Finn Balor said. “Because he’s kind of completely stepped out and probably exceeded any expectation that anyone had for his entire career, in one year. Last weekend was the one-year anniversary since he joined The Judgment Day. I feel like he was given kind of a warm reception when he came in because he was the son of a Hall of Famer, the son of Rey Mysterio. He was kind of accepted because he was the blood of Rey Mysterio.
“It was like, ‘Ah, we appreciate you because we love your dad so much. We’re gonna cheer for you too.’ Once he stepped out from under that tree and started fending for himself, he’s just been a completely different animal. Not only the growth he’s shown outside of the ring and in his promos and his character work, but his growth inside of the ring has been absolutely monumental. For someone who’s had very little training, no NXT experience, pretty much most of his training has been done on the job, on live TV, this kid is the future of the business in my opinion.”
