Report: Bryan Danielson Stepping Away From Wrestling Full-Time In The Next Year

Bryan Danielson stated that “time is running out” on the September 9 episode of AEW Collision. A new report provides more information about the situation.

Danielson suffered a broken arm at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 25, and he returned ahead of schedule on the September 2 episode of AEW Collision. He then returned to the ring at AEW All Out, where he beat Ricky Starks in a Strap Match.

Danielson came to the ring on the September 9 episode of AEW Collision and noted that he told his daughter he would start finishing his career once his daughter turned seven. He made it clear that he keeps his promises, so time is running out. Danielson also stated that the next year could be his last, but he vowed to make it an epic one.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that, per multiple people close to the situation, Danielson will be stepping away from wrestling full-time in the next year. However, he may remain a “special attraction” for AEW. Even then, Danielson is expected to remain a key part of AEW behind the scenes, as he has reportedly become one of Tony Khan’s main advisors.

Bryan Danielson Comments On Working Backstage

At the AEW All Out post-show media scrum, Danielson was asked about potentially becoming more of a leader backstage and in the creative process. After highlighting his love for wrestling, he emphasized that he is trying to figure out how to balance work and family.

“I’ve got a lot of thinking to do,” Bryan Danielson said. “That’s not a no. It’s a ‘how do I make this work while still keeping the meaningful things in my life, the things that I find to be important, putting them as a top priority?’

“If you can figure that out, if you can figure out this jigsaw puzzle or whatever it is of how to balance running a wrestling company with two kids and being able to go to their soccer games, or going to my daughter’s dance recitals or any of that kind of stuff. Those are puzzles to figure out. Or sometimes, the pieces don’t fit. Then it’s, ‘I’ve had a good run, and it might be time to move on.’”
