AEW Collision Results – September 9, 2023

This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with quick promos from Samoa Joe, Penta El Zero Miedo, Roderick Strong, and Darby Allin. This brings back the opening format that hasn’t been seen on the show in weeks.

Jon Moxley defeated Action Andretti to retain the AEW International Championship

  • Jon Moxley locks a rear naked choke on Action Andretti to win the match via submission.

A video package plays, recapping the long history between Roderick Strong and Adam Cole.

Kris Statlander defeated Robyn Renegade (w/ Charlette Renegade) to retain the AEW TBS Championship

  • Kris Statlander gets a rolling backward pin on Robyn Renegade to retain her title.

The Renegade Twins attack Kris Statlander after the match which brings out the returning Jade Cargill who lays out both Robyn and Charlette. The crowd chants welcome back at Cargill. Cargill shakes Statlander’s hand and then hits her with Jaded.

AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya and Ruby Soho are backstage. Soho is still angry that Toni Storm cost her the TBS Championship. Saraya says Storm is out of her mind and was using mayo on her face at the makeup table earlier today. Saraya briefly talks about her upcoming title defense at Grand Slam later this month.

Tony Schiavone attempts to have a sitdown with Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston to hash out their differences. Castagnoli says he doesn’t understand what Kingston’s problem is with him. Kingston says Castagnoli left him behind on the independents.

A match is made between Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston at Grand Slam with both the Ring of Honor World Championship and the New Japan STRONG Openweight Championship on the line.

Bullet Club Gold (w/ Cardblade) defeated Gravity, Aerostar, and Dios Del Inframundo

  • Andrade is shown watching this match backstage. Juice Robinson scored the pinfall victory for his team.

A video package plays featuring CJ Perry. Perry says Miro left her and said he wouldn’t return until he recaptured gold. Perry says she came to All Out to help Miro achieve his goals, but he’s being stubborn. CJ teases that she’ll be managing someone in All Elite Wrestling if Miro doesn’t listen to her.

A quick Dark Order vignette plays. It was followed up with The Acclaimed announcing they are continuing their “world tour” at Grand Slam.

Rey Fenix defeated Angelico

  • Rey Fenix hits the Fenix Driver on Angelico to score the pinfall victory.

AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR are backstage. Cash runs down the list of opponents they’ve beaten as tag champs. Cash wants to know who the next team is to step up. Dax says he wishes they were in the main event tonight, but they need challengers. Dax suggests they host the FTR World Tag Team Challenge starting next week.

Luchasaurus attacked Darby Allin backstage before he could make it to the ring. Christian Cage says Allin will never be a champion again in All Elite Wrestling as long as he’s there. Allin still comes out to wrestle, regardless.

Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom) defeated Darby Allin (w/ Nick Wayne) in the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament Semi-Finals

  • Roderick Strong hits End of Heartache on Darby Allin to win the match via pinfall

Roderick Strong advances to the finals of the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament

A video package for Powerhouse Hobbs plays. Hobbs says the current chapter in the Book of Hobbs remains unfinished and everyone will fall to the Book of Hobbs.

Keith Lee is backstage. Lee confirms that he’s focused on his singles career in All Elite Wrestling now. Lee says certain people in AEW are avoiding him, but now that he’s on AEW Collision everyone should run.

A video package plays for The Righteous. They are on their way to All Elite Wrestling.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out Bryan Danielson. Schiavone asks what’s next for The American Dragon. Danielson says he told his daughter once she turns seven he would start to wrap up his career; she’s six right now. Danielson says he keeps his promises and says his time is running out.

Bryan says he won’t go quietly into the night and he’s gonna kick everyone’s head in. Danielson says if this is his last year, it will be the most epic year of his career. Danielson calls out Zack Sabre Jr. for a match at WrestleDream.

Ricky Starks and Big Bill interrupt. Starks says he was tired of sitting in catering. Starks says he thinks he got everyone’s attention after Sunday. Ricky says he’s the man now and he’s gonna do things that Danielson could never do in his entire career.

Starks says he’s graduated from being hungry to being greedy. Starks stays he’s going to continue to take and take because that’s in his nature and that’s what he does. Danielson says he wishes Starks would have been patient because he wasn’t done. Danielson says he approves of what he saw in Starks at All Out.

Ricky Starks turns down an invite to join the Blackpool Combat Club

Bryan seemingly goes to offer Starks a spot in the Blackpool Combat Club, but he’s attacked by Big Bill. Starks looks upset at first but continues the attack on Danielson. Jon Moxley comes out to try and make the save but is taken down by Big Bill. Starks and Big Bill leave Mox and Danielson lying.

Tony Schiavone announces that Jon Moxley will defend the AEW International Championship against Jon Moxley this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.

Ring of Honor World Television Champion Samoa Joe defeated Penta El Zero Miedo in the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament Semi-Finals

  • Samoa Joe locks in the coquina clutch on Penta and wins the match via submission.

Samoa Joe celebrates in the ring as AEW Collision goes off the air.
