WWE has announced a major title match for the September 22 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Following a confrontation between WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY and Asuka on September 8, WWE confirmed that they will clash in a title match in two weeks. SKY will put the title on the line against Asuka on September 22.
Asuka lost the WWE Women’s Championship at WWE SummerSlam. There, Bianca Belair emerged in a Triple Threat title match that also included Charlotte Flair. Belair did not have long to celebrate, as SKY cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and dethroned Belair on the spot.
SKY recently defended the championship against Zelina Vega on the August 25 episode of WWE SmackDown.
