Drew McIntyre says he’s not focused on anything but putting on the best show he can.
McIntyre’s contract status with WWE has been a hot topic in recent months. When asked about the rumors, he told the Hindustan Times that he’s focused on the present.
“I mean, I keep reading the internet myself. I just saw something earlier. The internet keeps talking about my future, I guess. But my focus is on the here and now like I don’t look to the future, I don’t look to the past, I look to the present. And my job right now is just making sure we give everybody in Hyderabad the best show possible and I’ll continue to give the best performance I can give at every show and I can see I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can give.”
McIntyre had been absent since he lost to Gunther and Sheamus in a three-way match at WrestleMania 39. He then went on a hiatus and questions about his future popped up. Reports suggested McIntyre’s contract was coming up soon, and the two sides allegedly couldn’t agree on how McIntyre would be used.
McIntyre returned to the ring in July, and went on to challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. He addressed his absence in an interview with TMZ Sports and said there might have been some smoke with some fire to some of the headlines.
“It was cool getting a break. A lot of rumors and headlines on the internet when I was out,” Drew McIntyre said. “Probably 50 different things. It was amazing all of the stories about me out there. When you’re not on TV, people talk, and there might have been some smoke with some fire with a few of them. But it was nice people were talking about me when I wasn’t there.”
