Road Dogg Calls Jack Perry’s AEW All In Comments ‘Small-Ball Mentality’

Road Dogg has provided his hot take on Jack Perry’s comments at AEW All In.

Jack Perry allegedly escalated his rumored issue with CM Punk when he stared at the camera and said “real glass, cry me a river!” at the September 27 pay-per-view event. Punk had reportedly turned down a spot involving real glass for the young star’s own safety months prior.

Perry’s comments at All In were believed by many to be directed toward the veteran. The pair reportedly got into a fight moments before Punk’s match against Samoa Joe for the “Real” AEW World Championship at the historic Wembley Stadium.

Speaking on his Oh… You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg referred to Jack Perry’s comments as “small-ball mentality,” noting he would have taken Perry to task had he been in that situation.

“There’s not enough people meeting you at the curtain when you say stuff like that,” James said. “It’s small-ball mentality.” He went on to say that all backstage politics does is ruin camaraderie between performers backstage.

“Camaraderie is the best thing about the business. Not money, not the wrestling — all that’s really cool — but man, the best part about it is hanging out with the boys and having a good time. Yesteryear … it wasn’t crazy to see a fight, but that don’t happen nowadays … People go on the internet and say whatever they want and don’t get punched in the face,” he noted (h/t WrestlingInc).

CM Punk’s Next Move

CM Punk was fired by AEW after he reportedly got into a backstage scuffle with Jack Perry at All Out. Tony Khan dropped the shocking announcement during a rare appearance on the September 2, 2023 episode of AEW Collision.

Khan called Punk’s presence a security risk, noting that he didn’t want people in AEW to be “put in danger.” He further stated that the decision to fire Punk was his and his alone.

According to the latest reports, Punk is expected to make a public statement about his status.
