Chris Jericho Addresses CM Punk’s Departure, Discloses Brief Talk They Had At AEW All In

Chris Jericho addresses CM Punk‘s recent departure from AEW.

Last weekend, AEW announced that CM Punk had been terminated following an investigation into a backstage incident that occurred at AEW All In on August 27. On the latest episode of Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho, shared his thoughts on Punk’s exit from the company.

While the circumstances surrounding Punk’s termination are rather unfortunate, Jericho points out the magnitude of Punk’s last match against Samoa Joe, which unfolded in front of a record-breaking crowd in Wembley Stadium. Jericho also disclosed a brief conversation he had with Punk at All In.

“I don’t want to dwell on this or talk about it, but I should address it, of course,” Jericho said. “CM Punk is no longer with AEW. Wembley was his last match, which what a way to go out if you’re going to go out. I did speak to him briefly. I was going to do a frankensteiner off the top, and I know that he does that sometimes. So I was just curious if he was doing it. So, I went and talked to him for a bit, and asked him if he was doing it. He wasn’t. Then I told him I was going to do the GTS with a straight face. I think for a second he thought that I was going to, and I was joking, of course. So yeah, I did see him that day.”

“Once again, it’s a regretful moment, what happened,” Jericho continued. “Tony Khan made his decision. Like I said, CM Punk was a big part of AEW for the time he was here. If you’re gonna go out, he went out on top, for sure, by having a good match with Samoa Joe in the highest ticket seller of all-time, so that’s my thoughts on that.”
