A new tournament to determine the next #1 contender for the AEW World Championship will begin next week. The winner will challenge for the gold at AEW Grand Slam.
During the August 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Champion MJF revealed that a tournament will crown his next challenger. Later in the show, Roderick Strong entered himself into the tournament and vowed to beat MJF. AEW confirmed that the tournament will begin on the September 6 episode.
Other than Strong, no other participants were announced for the tournament.
AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam will take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 20, 2023.
