Chris Jericho has high praise for Daddy Magic and Cool Hand Ang.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Chris Jericho was a recent guest on The Wrestling Classic. When asked for his thoughts on Daddy Magic, Jericho put him over big time and said he has the potential to be a cult babyface for the company in the future.
“I think Daddy Magic has the potential to be a cult babyface,” Chris Jericho said. “I don’t think it’s maybe the right time just yet, but he’s got something about his personality that people connect to. Let me just say that the overall idea with the JAS was to make everybody a bigger star. I think we were able to accomplish that, and some guys get bigger up the ladder, and some guys get a little bit. But I think everybody raised their profile.
“I think Daddy Magic just did a great job of just coming out of nowhere. Like I never ever would have expected to be in a faction with Daddy Magic, Coolhand Ang, and Danny Garcia, but the way the story was going, it just fit. I didn’t even know these guys. And here we are a year and a half later, and I’m a big fan of all of them. Big fan of everybody in the JAS, and definitely a big fan of Daddy Magic.
“And like I said, I think he’s just got that personality that people respond to. As Pat Patterson used to say, he’s just a gimmick, which is a good thing. He really is. He’s like Randy Savage. That voice that he uses is not a voice. It’s his voice. He’s just being his normal self. So once again, huge fan of him for sure.”
When asked about Cool Hand Ang, Jericho put over his new look and the great promo he recently cut on him on AEW Dynamite.
“Same thing. I mean, he’s really established a good — I mean, all these guys the first time we ever got together, I said, ‘If you are going to a party held by your favorite musical artist, what would you wear? You can wear anything you want. I don’t think you’d wear a Speedo. But what would you add?’
“They all kind of responded with these cool-looking outfits, and they upgraded their presentation. So I’m very — newsflash, I’m very cognizant of that. You got to look like a star. And I think Ang has done a great job of that with the suspenders, and he’s got the comb and his hair-metal hair day. He cut a great promo the other day in that segment where everybody left me, and I was not expecting it.
“I thought he did a great job. So once again, here’s another guy who has some untapped talent as a promo guy, which we didn’t maybe necessarily know that before. So once again, I think he’s done a great job over the last year and a half.”
