Bruce Prichard says there was a time when he would reach out to former Nickelodeon host Marc Summers to join WWE as a backstage interviewer.
Over the years, WWE has developed many working relationships with celebrities and entertainment personalities. Throughout the years, WWE has maintained a relationship with Nickelodeon that has seen several of their Superstars appear on TV shows and during the Kids Choice Awards.
During the rise of Nickelodeon, Marc Summers was one of their most recognizable hosts as the face of Double Dare. On a new episode of his Something To Wrestle podcast, Bruce Prichard said he often reached out to Marc Summers to come in as a backstage interviewer for WWE.
“Usually, on a yearly basis, I would reach out to Marc Summers. I wanted Marc Summers to come in and be an interview guy like Mean Gene for us. I thought Marc Summers was absolutely one of those talented guys. He still is. He has done wonders on the Food Network, and he’s a great producer. But I thought he was even better as a talent, especially in his Double Dare days. I thought his personality would fit our business great.
“I did on pretty much a yearly basis for several years. [I’d] talk to Marc and or his agent about finishing up with his Nickelodeon thing [and] maybe he wants to come and do some stuff with us, but he had a great gig there. He was able to parlay that into a producer position. He’s just a great guy. A super guy and a great talent. I would have hired Marc in a heartbeat.”
Ultimately, Summers never made the jump to WWE. WWE did, however, briefly have the host of American Gladiators, Mike Adamle, as an on-air personality. Adamle worked as part of their announce team and as an on-screen GM in 2008.
