Joe Hendry came back to IMPACT Wrestling with a short-term contract, but he quickly wound up with a long-term deal.
Hendry returned to the company at IMPACT Bound Gor Glory 2022, where he competed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. He also wrestled at the television tapings the next day.
Speaking on the Wrestling is Life is Wrestling podcast with Cody Deaner, Hendry recalled how he got a long-term deal on the spot after his match at the tapings.
“I can’t put over Jason Hotch enough,” Hendry said. “He is such a damn good worker, and he made me look like a million bucks. Again, it was the night after the big pay-per-view, and actually, we might be pulling the curtain back a little bit here, but I came back from that match, so we had the pay-per-view match, maybe as an agent, this will provide you with some pride.
“I was on a very short-term deal. The night I came back, literally came back through the curtain, and they told me, ‘We’re tearing up your deal, and you’re getting a long-term deal.’ It was on the spot.”
Hendry went on to win the IMPACT Digital Media Championship, which he later lost to Kenny King. He has been a featured member of the roster ever since.
