LA Knight On Triple H Getting Behind His Character: I Don’t Think He Had A Choice After A While

LA Knight has gathered tremendous support from the WWE Universe in 2023 and Triple H is taking notice.

SmackDown Superstar LA Knight recently sat down with Alex McCarthy of Daily Mail. When asked about being put in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal instead of being on the WrestleMania card this year, Knight said there were a couple of ways to look at it.

“It was great, wonderful! [laughs] There are a couple of ways to look at it,” LA Knight said. “People will think he’s only active on the roster since October, WrestleMania is in April. There are a lot of people in that spot who wouldn’t have been at WrestleMania. But there’s a big difference there, and not to toot my own horn, but toot toot! Yeah. There was a whole fever that was starting to pick up around that time, about early March in the lead-up to WrestleMania.

“So to hear that and be aware of that and then at the last minute hear there wouldn’t be anything for me on there, big let down. But at the same time, what can I do? You’ve got to keep moving, doing my thing. And at the same time, I can understand that the thought might be that the reactions are fluke, this isn’t going to last, maybe this is, it’s been three or four weeks and maybe it’s a flash in the pan, flavor of the month, it’s going to go away, and here we are months and months later – more than half a year – and it’s only picked up in pitch.”

When asked how it felt to have Triple H acknowledge him in the Money in the Bank post-show press conference, Knight believes after a while The Game didn’t have a choice but to respond publicly.

LA Knight on Triple H: I almost saw his face. He was probably like, more questions about this guy, this is getting out of control

“I don’t think he had a choice after a while,” LA Knight said. “After Saudi Arabia, they’re chanting it right in his face. And then in England, a lot of the questions are about me, and I almost saw his face. He was probably like, more questions about this guy, this is getting out of control. I understand that because when you’re sitting up there and doing a press conference and trying to get certain things across it’s almost like, ah man, this guy keeps coming up. But you know what, that’s a sign, a true testament to the fact that whatever I’m doing is working.”

When asked if he has any comfort in hearing that there’s a plan for him, Knight didn’t see it that way.

“What’s comfort? It’s such a big machine, you’ve got so many moving parts and bodies and people to factor in,” LA Knight said. “If you consider just Smackdown itself, I’m probably undershooting this, you have 40 to 50 talents to look after. Probably more than that, I’m probably thinking of just the guys.

“And then you’ve got RAW and NXT and everything to coordinate, so I can understand you want to make some plans in advance and then when something like this happens it’s like, well do I upend everything and change everything? Is this real, is it going to last? So in a way, I get the trepidation, at the same time there is a point – and maybe we’ve reached that – where you see and hear and understand what’s happening and realize, alright, there’s got to be a change of plans here.”
