Lacey Evans Is Finished With WWE

Lacey Evans‘ time with WWE has seemingly come to an end.

Based on her social media activity, Evans (Macey Estrella) has implied that she is no longer with WWE. F4WOnline.com‘s Dave Meltzer reports that he has confirmed Evans’ departure.

Evans hinted at her pending departure on Monday but she did not offer any details besides mentioning the “new” name fans could call her. Subsequent details about the condition of her release are not yet available.

Fans first noticed a vague tweet in which she posted a GIF that read, “How many days left?” on August 14. Evans further distanced herself from the company when, in an Instagram post on August 15, she wrote that fans will address her as Macey Estrella once the clock struck 12.

Additionally, she changed her name removed WWE from her social media handles. On her Twitter account, she referred to herself as FKA WWE Superstar Lacey Evans.

Meltzer reported Evans’ contract expired on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. It was noted that neither side could agree on terms for a new deal, but it’s unknown what offer, if any, was made by WWE.

Update: Evans told Mac Davis and Teddy Long on Road Trip AFTER HOURS that she requested her release from WWE.

Lacey Evans’ WWE Run

Lacey Evans, a veteran of the Marines, signed with WWE in 2016. She started out on NXT, and she was a featured member of the roster during her time there. However, Evans’ WWE career reached a new level when she moved to the main roster in the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble.

Evans subsequently started feuding with Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and faced her at multiple premium live events. She then moved to SmackDown, and she made history at WWE Crown Jewel 2019. There, Evans and Natalya became the first female wrestlers to compete in Saudi Arabia. Evans later turned face and feuded with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley.

Following a heel turn and a return to RAW, Evans memorably entered a storyline with Ric Flair, where she flirted with him and seemingly started a relationship with the legend. This angle led to a rivalry with Charlotte Flair, but the program was dropped when Evans announced her pregnancy. Evans was absent for more than a year until she returned in April 2022. She was repackaged as a babyface, and her character focused on her military background.

From there, Evans received multiple gimmick changes and stop-and-start pushes. She returned again in January 2023 with a new character, and she started using Sgt. Slaughter’s Cobra Clutch. She even started dressing like him, which led to plenty of controversy.

Lacey Evans last wrestled on WWE TV since the June 23 episode of WWE SmackDown, where she lost a brief match to Charlotte Flair. She has not competed since she lost a dark match to Zelina Vega on the July 7 episode of WWE SmackDown.
