Jeff Hardy will face Jeff Jarrett in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch on the August 16 episode of AEW Dynamite. The match will produced in conjunction with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game. Given the association with the horror franchise, it’s fair to expect the match will be a wild battle.
In an interview with Tim Battle and Eli on the Battleground Podcast, AEW CEO Tony Khan was asked to describe how the sponsorship came together.
“I’m really looking forward to the big match, to have Jeff Hardy versus Jeff Jarrett in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch,” Tony Khan said. “It’s been a rivalry, it goes back a long time between those two. But here in AEW in particular, a rivalry going back several weeks between Jeff Jarrett and his partners against The Hardys. They’re gonna get a chance to fight it out on a big stage in Jeff Jarrett’s hometown in Nashville.
“We’ve got this Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch, sponsored by the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game. They gave us this great sponsorship deal, and they wanted a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch. We thought it would be great, with the issues that have popped up between The Hardys and Jeff Jarrett and his family, to have [this match] on Dynamite. Should be really exciting, and [we’re] working with a great sponsor, and providing their sponsorship needs.”
