Ricochet Follows A ‘What Would Jackie Chan Do?’ Mantra

Ricochet talks about Marvel movies and Jackie Chan being an influence on his character.

Ricochet is known for his amazing athletic ability. Some call him a superhero come to life because of the way he can flip and dive in the ring. Now, he is opening up about his influences. Ricochet says that he looks at every match with the mantra of “What would Jackie Chan do?”

“Just growing up and watching Spider-Man, Dragonball Z, and all that stuff,” Ricochet told Andreas Hale of Sporting News. “You just mimic what you kind of see. And so watching wrestling, and then watching all the other stuff that I did, it’s like I just wanted to combine that into like, one character type,” “When I got to Japan, seeing how they go about it and how they go about the entire business really, that really helped change my views rather than just like how I go about matches and how I go about doing that type stuff.”

NXT Arrival

Ricochet says he arrived in NXT and saw how he could start expanding what he did. There, he took elements he liked and applied them to a wrestling match.

“When I got to NXT and working with like Shawn and Hunter and being down there with a lot of those guys and seeing how like Johnny and Tommaso and the story they were telling and then like some of the stuff Aleister [Black] was doing and the stories they were telling with him,” he continued. “Marvel was getting popular at the time, too. The movies were getting popular. So we were trying to all do our matches — when I think of a match, I think, ‘Okay, what would Jackie Chan do?’ that’s the way Ricochet kind of thinks. So you take what you like and what you see, and then you just I just kind of mold it all into one.”
