Tyler Bate had a brief run as the NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
On the August 8 episode of WWE NXT, Bate defeated Noam Dar to win his NXT Heritage Cup trophy. However, Dar is not the undisputed champion.
Nathan Frazer was set to challenge him for the trophy on the June 13 episode of NXT. But Dar said he was unable to compete, so Oro Mensah took his place. Frazer beat Mensah to win the NXT Heritage Cup, and he has defended it ever since. That being said, Dar has been carrying around the trophy in recent weeks, and he has claimed that he is the rightful champion.
The commentary team noted that Frazer would surely have something to say about Bate’s title win.
Frazer indeed got involved later in the show. After Noam Dar and the rest of Meta-Four confronted Bate and demanded the trophy back, Frazer appeared and pitched a solution. In exchange for Bate giving Dar his trophy back, Frazer would give Dar a shot at the Heritage Cup on NXT Heatwave on August 22.
Dar previously won the NXT Heritage Cup on the August 25, 2022, episode of NXT UK. After the NXT Worlds Collide event, the trophy was dormant until Noam Dar arrived on NXT in April 2023.
