Report: Roman Reigns Suffered Undisclosed Injury At SummerSlam

Roman Reigns reportedly suffered an injury at WWE SummerSlam.

At WWE SummerSlam, Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He did not appear at the post-show press conference. Though he was initially set to be there, Paul Heyman took his place.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Reigns got hurt in the match. The exact nature of the injury was unclear, but Meltzer stated that it happened early in the bout.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select confirmed the news but wrote that Reigns is still planned for the August 11 episode of WWE SmackDown. Sapp wrote that, as of now, Reigns is not planned to miss his internally scheduled appearances.

The report noted that WWE hasn’t responded to official inquiries about Reigns. Sapp noted that, as far as those who would likely know in a creative aspect, they hadn’t heard until the word got out. In the report, Sapp wrote that the injury hadn’t changed creative, at least as of Tuesday.

WrestleZone will provide more information about Roman Reigns’ injury as it becomes available.
