Chris Bey Considered Retirement Last Year, Shares Moment That Saved His Career

IMPACT Wrestling star Chris Bey reveals that he contemplated retirement in 2022.

In a tweet, Bey responded to a clip of himself and Ace Austin defeating the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Shelley) to win the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship. He stated that the match, which aired on the March 2 episode of IMPACT Wrestling, saved his career.

A fan asked whether Bey was considering quitting, and the former IMPACT X-Division Champion stated that he was. He wrote that he considered retiring from wrestling in 2022. Bey noted that he lost his heart and soul throughout 2020-2022, and it was a struggle to get it back.

Bey also stated that he believed re-signing with IMPACT would bring back his passion, and it has.

In another tweet, Bey expressed his gratitude to Austin for helping him find his passion again. Bey and Austin lost the titles to Subculture (Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster) at IMPACT Slammiversary 2023. They remain featured members of the roster.

Chris Bey Talks Being In Bullet Club

In a previous interview, Bey discussed being a member of Bullet Club. Speaking with Lee Tarrier of PWMania.com, Bey was asked to describe what being a member of the group meant to him.

“Honestly, it’s just too sweet. It’s the greatest faction to ever be in professional wrestling,” Bey said. “It’s cool to do whatever, be whatever hang out with whoever, and we are just gaining more momentum. We’ve got championships from different promotions running throughout the brand, so it’s great man, it’s like being on the top team in the NBA, the NFL, whatever it is that you watch. It’s like playing for the top team. So it’s a sweet stamp of approval.”

Bey and Austin will face Sami Callihan and Rich Swann on the August 10 episode of IMPACT Wrestling. Check out the card here.
