CM Punk retained his “real” AEW World Championship tonight over Ricky Starks, but didn’t have any words for a challenge issued to him earlier in the night.
During Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, Samoa Joe made short work of Serpentico in a singles match. Afterward, the superstar took to the microphone and said that since he didn’t have an opponent for AEW’s All In pay-per-view just yet, he’d love for it to be CM Punk. Joe said that Punk is claiming to be the best in the world, but hasn’t been better than Joe a day in his life.
Later in the night, Punk and Starks took part in the main event, where Punk would defeat Starks to hold onto his X’d out AEW World Championship. After the match, Ricky Starks snapped and began attacking Ricky Steamboat, laying into him with a series of punches. Starks began whipping Steamboat with a belt before Punk gets back in the ring with a steel chair to run him off.
Punk asks for a doctor to check on Steamboat as he chases Starks off again. Punk then continued to check on Steamboat as AEW Collision came to an end, without any mention of Punk’s response to Joe.
