WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins discusses the injuries he has been dealing with and notes that he’s trying to make sure he doesn’t need surgery.
Speaking with Logan Paul on IMPAULSIVE, Rollins was asked whether he feels like he’s in his prime. He stated that he felt like he is just entering his prime, as he is in the sweet spot where his body can still go and he can “read the room” when he goes out to perform. Rollins noted that he believes like he has a window of six-to-ten years left in his in-ring career, depending on how his body holds up.
“I’m feel like I’m just starting my prime. I’m just starting to get into it. I’ve been wrestling since I was roughly 16, 17 years old, so 20 years now,” Rollins said. “In our industry, there are some exceptions, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, he’s kind of an exception. He was sort of part of the business his entire life because his family was in it, but his real run was only like four years, it was tiny. But fit the most part, historically, you need years and years of experience, thousands of matches. You’ve got to build equity with your audience.
“I’m at the point now where I’m 37, so I’ve got this maybe six-to-ten year window, depending on my health, where I’m gonna be in the sweet spot, where my body can still go, but my brain has also finally caught up to where I am physically. So mentally and physically, I haven’t deteriorated. I’m in that perfect zone. I’m not quite what I was when I was your age athletically, but I’m still pushing it, and mentally, I can read the room. When we go out there, it’s like cake for me. I’m in that zone for I’d say six-to-ten years depending on how my body holds up, and then who knows? Then I’ll turn into The Undertaker and come once a year for WrestleMania. But I’m feeling really good right now. I’m in a sweet spot.”
Rollins was then asked whether he is doing anything to take care of his body. He explained that he changes up his training depending on how his body is feeling before he detailed some of the injuries he has been dealing with. Rollins revealed that he should probably get surgery on his back, but he’s trying to make sure he doesn’t need it.
“No, honestly I just do my same thing. I try to just change my training up based on how I feel, and there’s constant injury,” he said. “My knee’s been bugging me since before WrestleMania. I was having issues with that. My neck acting up, my low back has been at me since 2019. Probably should get some surgery on that but trying to just do whatever I can to make sure I don’t need it because I have a couple of stress fractures back there.”
Rollins will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor at WWE SummerSlam.
