Darby Allin says Sting said a prayer for him ahead of his match with CM Punk at All Out 2021.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Darby Allin was a recent guest on Lost Signals to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his match against CM Punk at All Out 2021, Allin admitted he was very nervous heading into that match because if things went wrong, he felt like he would be blamed for it.
“I remember that day very vividly. Like it was a lot of stress, a lot of stress,” Darby Allin admitted. “Because you know, like Punk coming back and then being his first mash. I had a feeling if it fell apart, it was going to fall on me. So I was throwing up that day. I was so nervous that day, Sting came up to me, and he’s like, ‘I know you’re not a religious man. But can I say a prayer for you?’ And I was just over the trashcan, and I’m like, sure, dude.”
Despite his nervousness, he knew how big of a moment it was when CM Punk came out to have that match with him later in the evening.
“That was another moment,” Darby Allin said. “I entered first and stood in the corner, and his music plays, and it’s like yo, this is it. The fans are like yo, you can feel the energy, and it was awesome.”
