Malakai Black Reflects On Not Having Many Friends In NXT Because He Was Perceived As ‘The Chosen One’

Malakai Black wasn’t the most popular guy in the locker room when he was NXT Champion.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Malakai Black was a recent guest on The Undisputed Podcast with Bobby Fish to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his time in WWE NXT, Black revealed that he didn’t have a lot of friends there at the time because he was perceived as “the chosen one” by management.

“I remember when I was the quote-unquote chosen one in NXT, and I did not have a lot of friends because everybody wanted to be the chosen one, you know what I mean? I had a lot of people that did not like me because of that, and I was just going like, ‘I’m sorry, guys.’ I didn’t do anything on purpose,” Malakai Black said. “But it was just the way that the industry was at the time and what the quote-unquote machine picked at that time.” [H/T: POST Wrestling]

Malakai and The House of Black are currently involved in a rivalry with another former NXT Superstar, Andrade El Idolo, on AEW Collision.
