Grayson Waller made his awaited in-ring debut against Edge.
During the July 7 episode of WWE SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer Edge was a special guest on The Grayson Waller Effect. Waller teased that Edge had a big announcement regarding his retirement, however, that was not the case.
Edge pointed out that Waller hasn’t had his main roster debut match and that it was time to sink or swim. “The Rated-R Superstar” officially challenged Waller to a match later on in the show.
The two had a very competitive match as it was Waller’s first bout since April. The former NXT star looked to have had Edge’s number towards the end as he flipped back into the ring for his rolling stunner, but Edge cut him off with a Spear to secure the win.
After the bout, Edge said, “You swam.”
Waller joined SmackDown when the blue brand selected him in the 2023 WWE Draft, but he only appeared in non-wrestling segments for the first few weeks of his run on the show. He later revealed that he suffered a broken leg on the April 25 episode of WWE NXT.
Prior to his appearance on Friday, Edge hadn’t been on WWE TV since the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, where AJ Styles beat him and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat match.
