Two Teams Advance In Blind Eliminator Tournament On 7/5 AEW Dynamite

The quarterfinals of AEW‘s Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament took place on Wednesday, and saw two high-profile teams advancing in the tournament.

In the first match, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland were unable to land a big win, losing to Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin. Despite having championship pedigree, Lee and Strickland couldn’t get their old teamwork going, and instead lost as Allin and Cassidy ended things, with the match coming to an end with Allin hitting Lee with the Code Red.

In the second match, MJF and Adam Cole took down Matt Menard and The Butcher, with the two superstars getting into a brief argument during the match, as Cole refused to resort to underhanded methods to win, which angered MJF. Eventually, Cole gave in and helped MJF get some extra leverage on an abdominal stretch, but the match kept going. Things came to an end after Cole was hot tagged later in the match, and kept everyone busy enough before hitting The Boom for the win.

After the match, MJF took to the mic and said that the pair would have done better if Cole had listened to MJF. He then surprised Cole with a birthday celebration, including confetti raining down from the ceiling, a cake and balloon, and even birthday hats. However, MJF had ulterior motives, and attempted to slam Cole’s face into the cake. Cole saw it coming though, and quickly reversed it, sending an angry MJF into the cake.
