Darby Allin says Sting is doing great after last week’s tag match left him a bit banged up.
Sting and Darby Allin competed in a Tornado Tag Team Match on the June 28 episode of AEW Dynamite. The match saw Sting take yet another crazy bump as he did a top rope dive through a commentary table.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Darby Allin spoke about teaming with Sting and some of the spots the wrestling icon has done. Sting previously said he’ll need some stitches after the match left him bloodied. Sting’s AEW career has seen him take plenty of exciting risks, but Darby Allin says it’s all Sting’s idea.
“He’s actually doing great. We talked the day after and he said he’s doing great, which is awesome because I pulled him aside after that match and said, ‘Just be honest with me. How are you feeling? Not just your mouth, but your neck, every single thing about your body.’ People forget that he retired in 2014 when he took a buckle bomb. So for him to be going as hard [as he does] — and trust me when I say this — it’s none of my ideas. [laughs]
“It’s all him. He’s like, ‘Alright… is there a ladder here tonight? I’ll jump off of it.’ A lot of people think it’s me being the bad influence but no, it’s him. He’s got that hunger, he’s got that want to give the fans something. But he’s feeling great and I’m stoked.”
