Wendy Choo ‘Loved Every Single Moment’ Of Lights Out Match With Tiffany Stratton

Wendy Choo reflects on competing in WWE NXT‘s historic Lights Out match.

With her affinity for sleep and deep appreciation for the onesie, it’s only fitting that Wendy Choo was a part of NXT’s first-ever Lights Out match last year. For this unique stipulation, wrestlers would battle each other with the arena lights off. For added intrigue, competitors were also able to utilize outside weapons, as the match had no disqualification rules in place.

With this in mind, Choo and her opponent, Tiffany Stratton, wielded tennis rackets, garbage cans, Legos, and even hairspray in their attempts to secure victory. Ultimately, it was Wendy Choo who emerged victorious.

During a recent chat with Dr. Beau Hightower, Wendy Choo looked back on the historic matchup and the rivalry that lead up to it.

“Other memorable moments in my career, I had a match with Tiffany Stratton, also one of my proudest matches. She and I had a Lights Out match. So we had this feud, and this feud was like back and forth. It wasn’t like a main thing on TV, but we just kept going back and forth and back and forth with our promos and feuds. When we had our final match together, that crowd was there for us. They were enjoying every single moment of that match. I enjoyed every single moment of that match,” Choo said.

“And I got body-slammed on a bunch of Legos and I didn’t even feel a thing. It hurt afterward, but I took it because you just hear the crowd like, ‘Rahhhh, holy sh*t, holy sh*t.’ And I’m like, ‘Wow.’ That match, even though [Tiffany] was new and we’ve wrestled only a few times, it was chef’s kiss, one of my favorite matches.”

As Choo alluded to, Stratton was still in her rookie year of professional wrestling at the time of the Lights Out match, which took place in August 2022. Fast forward 11 months, and Stratton is now the NXT Women’s Champion.
