AEW Collision Results (6/24/23): CM Punk In Eight-Man Tag Team Action, Miro Speaks, And More

AEW Collision Results – June 24, 2023

AEW Collision kicks off with quick promos from both teams for tonight’s main event as CM Punk, FTR, and Ricky Starks take on Bullet Club Gold and The Gunns. It very much had a Saturday Night’s Main Event feel to it.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and tries to bring out Sting and Darby Allin so they can reveal their partner for Forbidden Door tomorrow. Chris Jericho comes out with Minoru Suzuki instead. There is no Sammy Guevara to be found.

Chris Jericho tells Schiavone and everyone in the crowd to shut up. Jericho said he’s not from Toronto; he’s from Winnipeg, you idiots. Jericho said he’s in a bad mood because Sting and Darby have kept them waiting to know who their partner is. Jericho wants to know who they are gonna get that’s tougher than Suzuki.

Jericho said Guevara isn’t there tonight because he’s miffed that he and Suzuki are such good friends. Jericho said he was not waiting for an answer and claimed that Schiavone knew who the partner was. He threatens him with the baseball bat, which finally brings out Sting and Allin.

Darby Allin tells Jericho to shut up, Allin said he knows Sammy isn’t out there tonight, but if he shows up to Forbidden Door tomorrow and stands with Jericho and Suzuki, he’s gonna kick his ass… just like their partner kicked Jericho’s ass at the Tokyo Dome.

Jericho has a fit as Tetsuya Naito walks out on the stage. Suzuki doesn’t seem phased by the announcement. Naito gets in the ring and stares down Jericho, which resulted in The Ocho and Suzuki stepping out of the ring.

We go backstage and hear from Miro, he said he’s been in exile for over a year but he’s finally been summoned. He said the coward finally spoke; he said that he would be his favorite champion again. All he needed to do was praise him. Miro realized at this point that the coward was an idiot too. Miro said it made him realize he must walk alone. He renounces his god, his gold, and his beautiful wife. Because he is Miro, and he is godless.

Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Swerve Strickland

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flow on Swerve Strickland to secure the pinfall victory.

MJF appears on the Tron following the match and tells Tanahashi he’s going to embarrass him at Forbidden Door and everyone who thinks that he’s on his level. MJF said he told Tony Khan the only way he’s showing up to the pay-per-view is if they are the first match on the card because he doesn’t want to spend his evening watching a bunch of indy jabronis wrestling. MJF said Tanahashi isn’t on the level of the devil.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Brody King (w/ Julia Hart)

  • Andrade El Idolo was bridging into the Figure 8 as Buddy Matthews ran in and attacked El Idolo to cause the disqualification.

Matthews and King double-teamed and beat down El Idolo after the match and no one comes out to save him. Malakai Black is shown on the Tron as Hart holds up El Idolo’s mask and the lights go out to end the segment.

We come back from a commercial break and Tony Schiavone is back in the ring, he introduces Christian Cage and the TNT Champion Luchasaurus. Cage comes out wearing the TNT Title on his shoulder. The Canadian crowd chants for Christian Cage.

Cage said he left Collision last week in a very bad mood but knew in a week he’d be back in Toronto with the TNT Championship, but now he’s in a worse mood. Cage said he can be brutally honest because he’s from here and said this city breeds losers and they are okay with mediocrity but he’s not.

He buries the Toronto Maple Leafs for getting bounced in the second round by the Florida Panthers. The crowd has completely turned on Cage at this point. Cage takes credit for Kawhi Leonard for leaving the Toronto Raptors.

Cage said there are no more open challenges for the TNT Championship and people have to earn it. He takes a snide shot at Cody Rhodes and said he will take the title to new heights and make it the most important title in All Elite Wrestling. Cage celebrates with the TNT Title and Luchasaurus seems okay with all of this.

A hype package plays for the men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Every man claims they will be the one to win the tournament. The men’s cup kicks off tomorrow with CM Punk going one-on-one with Satoshi Kojima.

New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale defeated Nyla Rose (w/ Marina Shafir) to advance in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament

  • Willow Nightingale hits a pinning powerbomb on Nyla Rose to win the match and advance in the tournament.

Nightingale is surrounded in the ring following the match by The Outcasts. This brings out Skye Blue with a steel chair, which caused The Outcasts to flee from the ringside area.

We hear from Scorpio Sky backstage who said he watched the video package last week and it should have felt good. But it didn’t. He said instead of a highlight reel let him introduce himself. He runs down the accomplishments he’s done in All Elite Wrestling and said the world is about to find out who Scorpio Sky really is.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jeremy Prophet

  • Powerhouse Hobbs wins with a spinebuster in a relatively quick squash match.

Jay White, Juice Robinson, and The Gunns defeated CM Punk, FTR, and Ricky Starks

  • Juice Robinson hits Ricky Starks with a roll of quarters which allowed Jay White to hit Starks with the Bladerunner to score the pinfall victory for his team.

The Gunns appear to join Bullet Club Gold as AEW Collision goes off the air.
