Bron Breakker Says There Was Little Time To Prepare For Promo Calling Out Seth Rollins

Bron Breakker reflects on the current upswing of his wrestling career.

Bron Breakker dominated WWE NXT for the majority of 2022. Upon losing the NXT Championship to Carmelo Hayes at NXT Stand and Deliver 2023, he turned heel and is prepared to cement his turn with a World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins on the June 20 episode of WWE NXT.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated about the change of direction for his character, Breakker, whose real name is Bronson Rechsteiner, says he had a good idea of where he wanted his character to go.

“I didn’t know how it would turn out,” says Rechsteiner. “For me, it was the great unknown. But I like putting myself in challenging positions. That’s how you grow.”

“I knew how I wanted to be presented,” he added. “I looked at the landscape in NXT, and I brainstormed and wrote down ideas about ways to be different. All around, what I’m doing now is better for me. It’s a new challenge, and I’m having the time of my life.“

Breakker challenged Rollins on the June 6 episode of WWE NXT with a surprise call-out promo that ended the show. Bron has now revealed that there was very little time for him to prepare for that challenge as the decision-making came down to the last second.

“It was down to the last second,” says Rechsteiner, noting that there was very little time to prepare. “That only added to the excitement.”

Now, he is hoping to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Seth Rollins. Should he be successful, he would be the first member of the Steiner family to win a World Championship in WWE. His uncle, Scott Steiner, had two opportunities against Triple H in 2003 but came up short.

WrestleZone will have full coverage of WWE NXT beginning on June 20 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
