Tony Khan is really excited about the return of CM Punk this Saturday night on AEW Collision.
All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and Mark Henry to discuss a wide variety of subjects. While talking about tomorrow night’s episode of AEW Collision, Khan teased that he still has more announcements to make about tomorrow night’s show that people don’t know about yet.
“A lot of exciting things are coming very soon. I’ve got more announcements to make about the show coming soon. People should stay tuned,” Tony Khan teased. “There’s a lot of information about AEW Collision that I’m still gonna disseminate here in the run-up to the show.”
When asked if he’s nervous about CM Punk having a live mic in his hands Saturday night, Khan said people have wanted to see him back for a long time and believes it’s going to be a major event.
“Well, I think for the wrestling fans, it’s an exciting thing. The fans have wanted to see CM Punk back in the ring for a long time. And for people all over the world, this is going to be a major event tomorrow night,” Tony Khan said. “And I know for the fans here in Chicago, they’re really excited about it. This is one of the biggest attendance records we’ve had all year for AEW TV.
“We’re gonna have a massive crowd, a huge gate tomorrow night at the United Center. And I really believe it’s a great card and it’s going to be a launch of a great new show. And a huge part of this is CM Punk, and people are excited to hear what he has to say, and people are excited that he’s going to be stepping back into the ring. And I really believe we can sustain this and build a great new franchise on Saturday nights for AEW Collision.”
When asked if he had any doubts that CM Punk would eventually return to All Elite Wrestling, Khan said he’d leave that question for Punk to answer tomorrow night but that his goal was always to get Punk back in the ring, and he’s really glad it’s happening this weekend.
“I’m really excited to have CM Punk back tomorrow night at AEW Collision, and I’m really excited about tonight with a loaded Rampage card, but I think I’ll leave some of those questions and some of those answers for what you see here on AEW Collision tomorrow night,” Tony Khan said. “I mean, for me, I always wanted to get CM Punk back in the ring, and I’m really excited that it’s finally happening tomorrow night, and I certainly have always wanted to make that happen, and I’m glad that it’s happening.”
