SANADA will defend the gold at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
During the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA appeared in a video message and issued an open challenge for the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. He stated that he was looking forward to seeing who would step up.
Later in the show, former AEW World Tag Team Champion “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry accepted the challenge, and the match was confirmed for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Perry unsuccessfully challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship in a four-way match at AEW Double or Nothing.
