Mercedes Martinez wants to help the next generation.
Martinez, 42, won the ROH Women’s World Championship on the May 4, 2022, episode of AEW Dynamite. She missed some time with an injury and later dropped the title to Athena at ROH Death Before Dishonor. Martinez recently competed on the June 9 episode of AEW Rampage, she continues to wrestle for ROH, and she remains active on the independent scene.
Speaking with Poisonrana, Martinez shared her belief that her next step is to help the next generation as an agent, coach, or producer. (Transcription credit of Jack Wannan of POST Wrestling)
“I believe that going forward, my next step — and I really truly hope that this will be my next step — will be to help the new generation of wrestlers in a company like AEW or wherever I land as an agent, as a producer, and as a coach for that company. [I want] to help their women talent feel comfortable, have a producer or an agent that is female to understand and speak to them.”
