NJPW STRONG will hold the two-day Independence Day pay-per-view in Japan on July 4 and 5, and New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced the first matches.
On the first night of the event, Catch 2/2 (TJP and Francesco Akira) will defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against Clark Connors and Dan Moloney. Akira and TJP beat KUSHIDA and Kevin Knight to win the titles, and Moloney turned on the United Empire duo after the match. In doing so, he aligned with Connors and Bullet Club.
Night two will see Eddie Kingston challenge KENTA for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship. KENTA regained the gold by beating Hikuleo at NJPW Resurgence, and Kingston expressed his intent to challenge for the gold after the bout.
