A new NXT Women’s Champion was crowned at WWE NXT Battleground.
During NXT’s latest premium live event on May 28, Tiffany Stratton defeated Lyra Valkyria in a tournament finals match to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. This is her first title reign in WWE.
Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:
Toward the end of the match, Valkyria came just inches away from a win after hitting Stratton with a roundhouse kick. However, Stratton got the tip of her toe onto the rope, breaking up the count. After Valkyria tried to go for a powerbomb, Stratton hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever after a few previous slams to win and become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
The title was declared vacant earlier this month when Indi Hartwell was called up to WWE RAW in the 2023 Draft. Following that news, an eight-woman tournament was set up to crown the new titleholder. Valkyria defeated Kiana James and Cora Jade to advance, while Stratton outlasted Gigi Dolin and Roxanne Perez.
