It doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing a lot of Sabu in All Elite Wrestling.
Ahead of this weekend’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view, Tony Khan took part in a media call to answer a wide variety of questions. When asked about the status of Sabu following Double or Nothing on Sunday, Khan confirmed that it is likely a one-off appearance for the ECW legend.
“I think it would likely be a one-off appearance,” Tony Khan said. “A lot of fans were excited to see Sabu. I don’t think he’s going to be somebody regularly stepping into the ring to compete. But under the right circumstances, if this goes well, then potentially he could come back and make other guest appearances. I think overall very positively received, him coming in and making a surprise appearance.
“So I’d be open to him coming back, but it’s not something I see as a regular occurrence either. It was a very special moment to see Sabu. I got a text from my dad this morning saying, ‘Sabu, blast from the past’ because my dad actually took me to see Sabu wrestle when I was 13 years old, and the match we saw him in, the first time I ever saw Sabu wrestle was Sabu versus Chris Jericho, and it was the only time they ever wrestled.
“And now there’ll be both out in the same ring, and Sabu will be the special enforcer for the unsanctioned match. Adam Cole versus Chris Jericho, and I thought it was a very cool full circle moment.”
