Gunther Is Prepared To Crush Mustafa Ali’s Dreams At WWE Night Of Champions

Gunther is ready to continue his reign as Intercontinental Champion this Saturday at Night of Champions.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther recently sat down with DC101‘s Mike Jones to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about Mustafa Ali earning a shot at his title at Night of Champions through a battle royal, Gunther called it a bit of an upset, but things like this can happen in a match type like that.

“Obviously, it was a little bit of an upset, but I think it means a lot to him to have that opportunity now, especially at Night of Champions, which is hosted in Saudi,” Gunther said. “We just recently went there to do a lot of media appearances and stuff. The reception to him was very well received, so I think maybe that gave him a little extra motivation.

“In a battle royal, even though there’s more people involved, it gives you a chance to win a different way than you would win a straight-up singles match or a regular match. That’s what makes it interesting. If you look at the finish of the battle royal, he was very intelligent in that situation. He earned his rightful opportunity for that, and I’m totally up for it to crush his dream and the audience’s dream.”

Despite how Ali earned his title shot, Gunther is very excited about competing in Saudi Arabia for the first time this weekend at Night of Champions.

“I’m totally excited for that,” Gunther said. “Doing this job has made it possible for me to do to so many different places that I would have never traveled to, and this is another chance for me to go into a completely different culture from what we know and experience it, and basically go out there and entertain the people there.

“I think it’s a great honor whenever I can do that. So I’m very excited for it. I think the world comes closer together when you actually reach out and meet and learn about different cultures. I’m really looking forward to it.”
