Report: Update On AEW And CM Punk, AEW Collision

A new report shines more light on the current situation between CM Punk and AEW following the announcement of AEW Collision.

Punk has been absent from AEW since the events of Brawl Out, the altercation between Punk and The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) following AEW All Out 2022. Punk’s return has widely been rumored for the premiere of AEW Collision. The addition of AEW’s third show was confirmed on May 17, but Punk was pulled from promotional materials for the show.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Punk and AEW have remained in contact over the past week. Sapp wrote that some documents were sent to Punk, and it’s unclear whether they were “legal threats”, but they were related to speaking about certain subjects, disparagement clauses, and making sure that Punks his scheduled appearances for AEW TV. These steps were largely meant to protect AEW.

Per Sapp, there have been productive conversations over the last week, but further context was not provided. Sapp cited sources close to Punk who expressed that they believe Punk will be at the premiere of AEW Collision on June 17. Additionally, the talent Fightful has spoken to were not given their travel for the premiere of AEW Collision as of May 23.

Plus, Sapp wrote that backup locations other than the United Center in Chicago were being discussed for the June 17 episode of AEW Collision.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
