Tessa Blanchard: I Feel Like I’ve Got Some Unfinished Business In Wrestling

Tessa Blanchard has some unfinished business in wrestling.

The former IMPACT World Champion’s contract with IMPACT Wrestling was terminated in 2020. She had been accused of bullying and verbal abuse, and she denied these claims. Blanchard previously noted that she was focusing on school, but she has been taking more wrestling bookings lately.

Speaking with Mike McGuire on McGuire on Wrestling, Blanchard discussed her return to the ring. She made it clear that she has some unfinished business in wrestling, and she is confident that she’s one of the best in the game.

“First of all, I can’t even express how thankful I am,” Blanchard said. “The fans have been so accepting here. Even today, it was just like, they’re chanting, ‘Tessa! Tessa!’ That always feels great, especially being away for so long. But yeah, I’m always gonna want more. I feel like I’ve got some unfinished business in wrestling. I do feel, I’m 27 years old, and I do feel confidently like I’m one of the best that there is, and I can go with the best.

“So I won’t stop pushing for that, but I’ve got other things going on too. I think it’s important to have that balance of knowing who you are outside of the business, and the business isn’t always be there for you, and it’s very unforgiving. It will recycle people left and right. So I know who Tessa is without wrestling, which makes me more dangerous when I go back to wrestling.”

Blanchard was also asked about her work in school, and she stated that she is finishing her degree in international affairs.

“So I’m in college right now, finishing my degree,” Blanchard said. “I had left college when I was 18 because you’re 18 making a ton of money wrestling and traveling, like why do I need to? But I’m back, I’m going for international affairs, so a lot of politics, history, foreign policy. I’m really passionate about immigration, how our country works with other countries.

“Our country does make it kind of difficult, the process of immigration is difficult for people who aren’t from America. I do think there’s people that just want a better opportunity or want to be able to come and work, or come and go to school, or have. A better life. Living in Mexico, I lived there for three and a half years and got to see that. So I’m very passionate about those things, and love a lot of the courses that I’m taking. I feel like I’ve grown so much, going back to school, learning so much about myself. So that’s kind of what I’m doing on the flip side. That’s my weekday.

Blanchard recently signed a deal with XPW that will begin on May 27.
