Santos Escobar believes WWE could bring a premium live event to Mexico City’s Stadium Azteca.
As WWE continues to produce more major events outside of the continental United States, Santos Escobar believes Mexico, a longstanding hotbed for pro wrestling, is overdue for a WWE premium live event, maybe even WrestleMania.
In an interview with the Getting Over podcast recorded prior to WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico, Santos Escobar detailed why he thinks Mexico could be the next step for WWE internationally.
“Trust me, this weekend [Backlash in Puerto Rico] means a lot not just to me, but to any other Latino Americans out there. Of course, Puerto Rico is gonna be amazing, but what’s the next step? Mexico City, the Aztec Stadium. Over 110,000 people there for a premium live event, maybe? For a WrestleMania, maybe? The Superstars are ready for it. We’re ready for it and Mexico is ready for it. Latin America is ready for it. Yes, every time I can, I mention it to whoever wants to listen. The stage is there. It’s set. We’re ready to go take over the world. First step, Puerto Rico. Then perhaps, Mexico. Let’s ask Triple H after the show.”
