WWE Backlash 2023 set new company records.
On Monday, WWE announced Backlash 2023 became the highest-grossing and most-viewed Backlash in company history. This year’s event took place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Backlash 2023 saw a 28 increase in viewership from the year prior. In addition, it was the largest-grossing event for any Backlash event and any WWE event ever held in Puerto Rico.
WWE also touted Backlash 2023 as the most social Backlash event of all time. The San Juan Street Fight featuring Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest saw more than 40 million views, and #WWEBacklash trended as No. 1 “across the entire evening of sports.”
Backlash also broke merchandise and sponsorship records, as the event featured a 98 percent year-on-year increase through partnerships with Netflix’s FUBAR, Mike’s Harder Lemonade and Xfinity.
