Carlito returned at WWE Backlash, and a new report shines some light on the situation.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion was released by WWE in 2010. He returned in 2021, when he competed in the Royal Rumble match, and he also competed on the February 1, 2021 episode of WWE RAW. At WWE Backlash 2023, Carlito made an appearance when he helped Bad Bunny fight off The Judgment Day during the latter’s match with Damian Priest.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that WWE was very happy with Carlito’s return, with several people backstage highlighting the way he matured since his WWE run. These sources noted that the crowd’s reaction was “better than expected.”
Sapp also wrote that there have been numerous pitches to bring Carlito in over the last few years, either for runs or work on a full-time status. However, his appearance at WWE Backlash was said to be a one-off, though that could always change.
