Thunder Rosa Looks At Wrestling A Different Way After Being Sidelined With An Injury

Thunder Rosa continues to learn and evolve her wrestling knowledge after being sidelined with a serious back injury.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Thunder Rosa recently sat down with Dominic DeAngelo of Ad Free Shows to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her time away from the ring right now due to injury, Rosa revealed that she’s learned so much over the last nine months being in a different role than an in-ring performer.

“I cannot tell you how much I have learned in the last nine months being in another role of professional wrestling because I’m more critical of things,” Thunder Rosa said. “Now I see what things can work, what things doesn’t work as a fan, as a wrestling critic, and as a radio host.

“I have to look at everything in a different way. And that forces me when I return to really pay attention to selling, to telling a story, to really working with your partner and to create a great story, and to elevate each other, which is very important. So I have learned so much, I can go on and on.”

When asked about her friendship with Dustin Rhodes and him possibly having one more big run at the top of the card in All Elite Wrestling, Rosa spoke about how much The Natural has done for the business but doesn’t get credit for it.

“I think he has done so much for the business. I mean, so much. I don’t think he gets the credit that he deserves, and he’s such a good worker,” Thunder Rosa said. “There were a couple of matches. I think the one that stood out the most for me was him and CM Punk went out there in an opening match, and I remember the storytelling of it was like, straight up old school wrestling and the people were going insane.

“I remember being glued to that. It was like the opening spot. It was basic classic, what they teach you in school and how you do it well and how you call for the fans to do certain things and just very little subtle things, right? And Dustin is really good at that, and I just don’t feel like he’s had — besides probably the match that he had with his brother, the blood match. He hasn’t had an opportunity to really just kind of like Mickie James, do his last rodeo and something really cool.

“And I think that’s very important for people like me; for other people that are coming up in the business because yes, we can get over doing certain things on social media and everything, but we can also do certain things to learn from what has always worked, right and we can do it now in a more modern way, and that’s one of the things I tell you now that I’m watching a lot more wrestling and I’m calling all these matches.

“I’m like, Okay, there’s certain things I’ve never done that they have never changed, and they still work, and people are gonna change it and their modern way, and it’s working for the fans, right? But yeah, there’s certain aspects and certain points that you don’t have to change anything. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel but just do that. And it’s that basic recipe that still works, and your red velvet cake tastes the same always.”
