Trinity Explains Why She Walked Out Of WWE: Everything Kind Of Broke Me That Day

Trinity officially makes her IMPACT Wrestling debut Thursday night on AXS TV.

The former Naomi was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca, Tommy Dreamer, and Mickie James to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her decision to sign with IMPACT Wrestling, Trinity said doors were open for her everywhere but feels like IMPACT is the best place for her right now.

“Absolutely, which is why I chose and wanted to be at IMPACT. The doors are open for me everywhere, literally everywhere,” Trinity said. “But I truly feel like IMPACT is the best choice for me at this point in my life right now with what I want to do and to just be able to work with the talent there.

“I feel that it’s where I’ll be happiest and most utilized and really get to grow in the ways that I feel that I need to right now on this wrestling journey. Had all of this stuff never happened, there’s no way I would have taken that leap. But the situation kind of forced me to figure it out. That’s what I meant when I say everything was like a blessing in disguise because I was really going through a lot, and it felt very stagnant, and I wasn’t happy.”

Trinity also touched upon her WWE exit last May when she and Mercedes Moné (Sasha Banks) walked out of the company.

“Ultimately, I left that day because of the way I was talked to and handled, and everything kind of just broke me that day,” Trinity admitted. “Had nothing to do with anything else, anybody else. But that was just it. I had to. And yeah, just to go through all the backlash and the negativity and the lies and the rumors and then to also kind of just feel lost. Really, it broke me.

“It was probably the lowest I’ve ever felt in my life, but going through that, it made me reset and face it head-on and figure out how to learn from this experience, grow from it and yeah, just find myself again in all of it. So I’m extremely happy now. I’m really thankful for this opportunity to kind of show that you haven’t seen me at my best yet.”

When asked about her first impressions of the IMPACT locker room, Trinity made it a point to state just how welcoming and pleasant everyone is there and how she felt at ease seeing multiple people there that she worked with in the past.

“Just how welcoming and pleasant and nice everyone was and then all of the familiar faces like I just felt so at ease because Fandango was there. Heath Slater, Brian Myers, they all just embraced me. We were all in FCW together. So seeing those guys there, I just instantly knew that I will be okay, taken care of,” Trinity said. “They were checking on me the whole time, ‘Sis, you good? You need anything? Can I help you with anything?’ And just the way everyone works as a collective and operates as a family, everyone really is there helping the entire time, and it’s genuine, and it’s real, and I just felt so supported and welcomed.

“And that just made it very easy for me to get through all of it. I didn’t have to worry; it didn’t feel like, ‘Oh, who is this coming in? Why is she here?’ I didn’t feel any of that. Everyone in the locker room was like, how can I help you? Helping me sew up one of my outfits that had a hole in it. Bringing me food and anything you need, and that’s what I needed. I really, really, really needed that. And I didn’t have to say it. Which is very nice.”

When asked what was going through her mind before going out through the curtain for the first time, Trinity said she was a nervous wreck all day until her music hit and then it all went away.

“I was a nervous wreck, literally all the way up until my music hit,” Trinity admitted. “And it was like when the music hit, and I heard the reaction like I was on; it was crazy. Like I was literally shaking all day, you know, throughout the day thinking of the promos thinking of — and that music hit, and it was like okay, she back. I got this.”

When asked what her goals are in IMPACT Wrestling, she admitted that she’s coming for the Knockouts Championship but is willing to work her way up from the bottom to get there.

“Girl, you know! That Knockouts World Championship,” Trinity confirmed. “And I’m willing to work my way from the bottom all the way to the top, however long it takes, whatever I need to do, whoever I need to go through. I’m ready for that. I’m ready for that journey.”
