Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre, the reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, are moving to the main roster, as they were selected by SmackDown on the first night of the 2023 WWE Draft.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dawn and Fire shared their thoughts on getting drafted. Fyre noted that they had no idea they would be getting the call.
“I’ve been saying it for days, I still don’t feel like it’s quite settled in yet,” Fyre said. “We had no idea. No idea we were going to be drafted. It means so much. We both worked really hard for this and for a long time. Getting things like this, you know you’re being appreciated.”
Dawn chimed in by saying, “The timing with teaming a month ago, that was our second TV match, we’ve only been together a short time.” (Transcription credit of Jeremy Lambert of Fightful)
Dawn and Fyre will defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship against Kayden Carter and Katana Chance on the May 2 episode of WWE NXT. More information is available here.
