Matt Hardy: The Firm Storyline Will Be ‘Bananas’ When It’s All Said And Done

Matt Hardy teases that his feud with The Firm is going to end in an exciting way.

Over the past few months on AEW programming, Hardy has been involved in an extensive storyline with the group. Ethan Page and Stokely Hathaway mistreated the veteran and Private Party once the faction acquired their contracts, but Matt eventually forged a convincing friendship with “All Ego.” However, he turned on Page on the April 5 episode of AEW Dynamite. Hardy subsequently challenged The Firm to the Firm Deletion match, where he will aim to free himself and Private Party from the group with a win.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy was asked to name his favorite singles opponent in AEW, and he pointed to Page, his former stablemate in The Firm.

“I might even jump out there and say Ethan Page,” Hardy said.

Co-host Jon Alba then asked Hardy to describe what he likes about Pagge from an in-ring standpoint, and he highlighted Ethan’s mentality, his thought process, and his approach to storytelling. Hardy then noted that the storyline with The Firm is the most ling-running program he’s had in AEW, and he teased that it will “be bananas” when it’s over.

“His mentality, his thought process,” Hardy said. “The way he does his storytelling, the way he applies the story of the characters into the match, and just his overall mentality. He’s someone who is very easy to work with. I would almost go with him. I feel like this is the most elongated story I’ve had in my AEW run, doing this deal with Ethan Page, and I think it’s going to turn out and be bananas when it’s all said and done.”

As of this writing, it’s unclear when The Firm Deletion match will take place. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
