Deonna Purrazzo says there’s no debate about where she will be in the immediate future.
Purrazzo spoke with Scott Fishman for SEScoops. During the interview, Fishman asked about her future with IMPACT, as Purrazzo is reportedly set to be a free agent at the end of 2023. According to a report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), IMPACT Wrestling exercised the one-year option they had on her existing contract, which was originally set to expire at the end of 2022.
Deonna Purrazzo was asked if she’s still deciding what’s next or if she had long-term plans with the company. Purrazzo played coy and said there’s no question that she’s focused on IMPACT’s advertised schedule of events, noting three particular events that are planned through June.
“Yeah, well right now I am totally focused on defending my Knockouts World Championship. This week coming up on IMPACT I have a title defense against Taylor Wilde, so I think right now I’m all in at IMPACT. I’m here, no one has to worry about that,” Purrazzo said. “I’m the new Knockouts World Champion. So, we’re in Chicago this coming weekend, we’re in London, Ontario in May, Columbus [Ohio] in June. I’m there for all of it, there’s no debate.”
IMPACT Wrestling has multiple events confirmed through October, including Slammiversary on July 15, Multiverse United 2 on August 20 and Bound For Glory on October 21.
Deonna Purrazzo recently spoke with WrestleZone about what might be in her future, explaining how she has one particular record in sight.
“I definitely think that [breaking the record for longest single reign] is in the back of my mind of like, ‘okay, I did it before. I can definitely do it again.’ But I think more so for me, the number that sticks in my mind is I believe it’s 711. That is the number of days combined that Gail Kim held the Knockouts World Championship over seven reigns. She’s number one in combined days as a champion. So that, I think, is the next number for me where it’s like if I’m at four hundred plus now, can I beat 711?”
Purrazzo also spoke about her recent victory feeling bittersweet due to Mickie James being taken out of the match because of an injury. Check out our full interview with Deonna Purrazzo below:
