Trish Stratus Reveals Why She Decided To Return Full-Time To WWE

Plenty of WWE Legends come back for one-off matches, but Trish Stratus is taking a different approach this time around.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was a recent guest on After The Bell with Corey Graves to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked what led to her decision to return to the company full-time, Stratus credited her current rival, Becky Lynch.

“I took a keen interest in Becky Lynch. I guess it was last summer when they had done a live event here in Toronto. And we got into a little exchange of words,” Trish Stratus said. “And people were interested, which I thought that’s interesting how interested they are in this.

“And I just think, I did a post right before Wrestlemania where I just said, Oh, it’s so cool because Lita and Becky march to their own beat, but to me, I saw a lot of me in Becky. I see the drive and the passion and the unequivocally will not accept anything less than excellence. That is what I did. And I see that in her. And so I was like, I see in her too. Which I admired, and I love that.”

Trish Stratus then shifted into character and said she hasn’t appreciated how Becky Lynch has treated her since returning to the company and the decision to turn on her a few weeks ago on WWE RAW.

“But then being with her, I was like, hmmm,” Trish Stratus continued. “They say don’t meet your heroes, not that she was my hero. I should be her hero. But I was just like, oh, okay, cool. That’s fine. And then it just was too much.

“She was just very patronizing at the end there. There was that little end note when we didn’t win that match. Because of whatever reason, but it was just like, ‘Okay, we’ll get them next time.’ I don’t know. It just felt like the right moment to deliver a message.”
