Will Ospreay comments on seeing Mercedes Moné wrestle in Japan.
The former Sasha Banks arrived in New Japan Pro-Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she attacked IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI. Moné then defeated KAIRI to win the gold at NJPW Battle in the Valley on February 18. At NJPW Sakura Genesis, she defended the title in a three-way bout against AZM and Hazuki.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, NJPW star Will Ospreay was asked to share his thoughts on Moné’s run in Japan up to this point.
“Feels surreal actually seeing her in a Japanese ring,” Ospreay said. “We spoke about it in 2019 when I was living out there. She’s truly a lovely woman that just loves wrestling. Her following is amazing [and] she’s a huge asset for Joshi.”
At STARDOM’s All Star Grand Queendom event on April 23, Moné will defend her IWGP Women’s Championship against Mayu Iwatani. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show once it airs.
