Ric Flair Has Stopped Taking Xanax Thanks To Edibles

Even though he’s never appeared on All Elite Wrestling programming, Ric Flair has been namedropped multiple times over the last few years.

WWE Hall of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair recently sat down with The Orlando Sentinel to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his longtime rival Sting namedropping him on AEW Dynamite a few weeks back, Flair called it an honor.

“Whenever that happens, it’s a great honor,” Ric Flair said. “It never gets old.”

While Ric Flair isn’t seen very often on WWE programming, he’s present for the WWE Hall of Fame every year. It’s something Flair said is important to him so he can get together with the people he was in the industry with to share memories and stories.

“It’s the one time we all get together to share the memories and stories,” Ric Flair said. “I’m actually going to visit Muta in Japan. The worst thing about it is that it’s one or two less of us every year. It’s been a long year for a couple of people, so my prayers are with them.”

Flair has recently got involved in promoting the Tyson 2.0 cannabis company. He revealed that taking these edibles has changed his life to the point where he no longer needs to use Xanax, which is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.

“I had been approached before [about promoting cannabis], but it wasn’t ideal for my brand at that time since I was still wrestling and all that,” Ric Flair said. “But when I said, ‘Yeah, boy,’ it changed my life. I haven’t really smoked since I was 18 or 19 because I had asthma — that’s the only reason I didn’t, probably — but with edibles, now I’ve gotten off Xanax.”

Ric Flair and Tyson 2.0's Chad Bronstein Interview

Tyson 2.0 Chairman Chad Bronstein and Ric Flair spoke about the latter’s partnership with Mike Tyson during a recent interview with WrestleZone.

Ric Flair called the partnership the biggest thing he’s ever been part of and noted the positives of using cannabis compared to prescription drugs.

“I can tell you right now that two of the biggest problems, and I’m not just gonna put it in the wrestling business, but in sports, is getting up and getting down. A lot of guys need a lift in the morning, whether it be an energy drink or something, like coffee. But when you run as hard as we do and it’s four o’clock in the morning, [cannabis is] much, much, much safer [than using other medications like Ambien as a sleep aid], especially on the international tours where you’re gonna get off the plane and go to work that night,” Flair explained.

“You don’t get to get off the plane and go to the hotel and lay down for a day to get ready. This isn’t like getting ready for a UFC fight. In our day, we got off the plane, went to the arena, and we didn’t get to bed til four o’clock the next morning. When I was younger, when I was traveling the world as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion — I mean, it’s hard to believe, but I could be in Sydney, Australia, St. Louis, Tokyo, Japan, and back to Atlanta, Georgia in one week,” Flair added, “and wrestling an hour in each town. You didn’t have time. You didn’t know where you were sometimes.”
